Instructions

Redheads® Lump Charcoal is produced from premium natural hardwood, predominantly Acacia, selected for its high carbon content and reliable high heat output. This restaurant grade charcoal includes pieces up to 120 mm in length, delivering strong, steady heat and excellent airflow for precise fire control.

Free from chemicals, additives, and binders, this lump charcoal burns cleanly with low smoke and low ash, allowing the natural flavour of your food to shine. Trusted by masters and professionals, it is ideal for everything from fast, high heat searing to low and slow cooking. It lights easily, burns evenly, and delivers consistent performance cook after cook.

FSC® certified, Redheads® Lump Charcoal is responsibly sourced from well managed forests.

Best used for: BBQs, kettle BBQs, open grills, spit roasts, fire pits, pizza ovens, BBQ smokers, hibachi grills.

Keep it out of reach of children and store in a cool, dry location away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames, and any other sources of ignition. Never use BBQ fuel inside homes, vehicles, or tents. Burning BBQ fuel indoors can be fatal as it emits carbon monoxide, which is odourless.

How to use lump charcoal

Kettle BBQ

  1. Open all vents and remove the lid for maximum airflow.
  2. Place 4–6 Redheads® Firelighters evenly in the charcoal tray.
  3. Arrange Redheads® Lump Charcoal loosely over the firelighters, allowing air gaps.
  4. Ignite the firelighters and leave the lid off.
  5. After 15–20 minutes, once charcoal is mostly covered in grey ash, spread evenly before cooking.

Open Grill BBQ

  1. Arrange Redheads® Firelighters on the base of your grill.
  2. Loosely pile Redheads® Lump Charcoal on top, ensuring good airflow.
  3. Ignite firelighters and leave charcoal undisturbed for 15–20 minutes.
  4. When mostly covered in grey ash, spread evenly for cooking.
