Rules, Terms & Conditions – Art Strikes Back 2025

Contents

This Campaign is run by Aurora Lites Pty Ltd (ABN 66 649 845 787), located at 20 Gwynne Street, Cremorne VIC 3121, Australia (the “Sponsor”).

A GAME OF SKILL, NOT CHANCE

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE THE CHANCES OF WINNING.

Eligibility

This Campaign is open only to individuals who submit an entry via https://redheads.com.au/pages/artstrikesback and are legal residents of Australia as of the date of entry.

Entrants under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian complete the submission and agree to these Terms & Conditions on their behalf.

Entries must not include content that is sexually explicit, violent, derogatory, unlawful, or inconsistent with the values of the Redheads brand. The Sponsor reserves the right to remove or disqualify such entries at its sole discretion.

Employees of Aurora Lites Pty Ltd and immediate family members (parent, sibling, spouse, child) and/or those living in the same household of such employees are not eligible to participate.

The Campaign is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited.

Agreement to Rules

By participating, you agree to be fully and unconditionally bound by these Rules and represent that you meet the eligibility requirements.

You further agree to accept the decisions of Aurora Lites Pty Ltd as final and binding.

Campaign Period

Entries will be accepted online starting 12:00 AM AEST, 1 June 2025 and ending 11:59 PM AEST, 31 July 2025. All entries must be received within this time frame.

How to Enter

Submit an entry using the official form at https://redheads.com.au/pages/artstrikesback.

One entry per person.

Entrants must provide complete and truthful information.

Any attempt to submit multiple entries or use fraudulent methods will result in disqualification.

Submission Requirements

Each entrant may submit one (1) artwork only. Submissions must reinterpret the front panel of a Redheads matchbox and align with the campaign’s theme.

All entries must be accompanied by process documentation, which may include sketches, screenshots of AI prompts, videos or social media post links and must include an artist statement.

Accepted file types: PNG, JPG, PDF. Additional media (e.g., MP4S, GIFS, video links) may be submitted to support your entry.

Use of AI tools

All artwork submitted must be the original work of the entrant.

While digital tools (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate) may be used in the creation of the work, entries that are primarily or wholly generated by artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, or similar platforms will not be considered valid.

For the avoidance of doubt:

  • Submissions that rely on AI to generate base imagery, manipulate compositions, or complete substantial portions of the final artwork will be disqualified.
  • Minor, non-substantive enhancements (e.g., noise removal, contrast correction) using AI-powered features within design software are acceptable.
  • All entrants may be asked to provide proof of process (e.g., rough drafts, layers, screenshots, or time-lapse recordings) to demonstrate authorship and originality.
  • The judging panel reserves the right to disqualify any entry where the level of AI involvement compromises the spirit of original artistic creation and/or the legal copyright cannot be irrefutably transferred.

Prizes

1st Place: 1 Winner, $5,000, placement on Extra Long Matchbox (as selected by judges)

Runner Ups: 5 Winners, $1,000 each, placement on Safety Matchbox (selected by judges)

People’s Choice – 1 Winner, $500 cash prize (most votes). Artwork may be featured in marketing collateral but not necessarily on packs.

Judging Criteria

Percentages are indicative and used as guidelines

  • Originality & Creativity (30%) – How unique or fresh is the artistic concept?
  • Relevance to Theme (25%) – How well does the entry reflect the “Art Strikes Back” theme and Redheads branding?
  • Artistic Execution (25%) – Technical quality, composition, and finish.
  • Emotional or Visual Impact (10%) – Does the work capture attention or evoke a strong response?
  • Process Insight (10%) – Clarity and thoughtfulness shown in the submitted process documentation.

Judging Stages

Stage 1: Eligibility & Pre-Screening

  • All submissions are reviewed to ensure they meet the entry requirements (age, file format, originality, etc.).
  • Non-compliant entries are disqualified or returned for correction before proceeding.

Stage 2: Shortlisting

  • A panel of internal team members (e.g., marketing and design staff) selects a shortlist (e.g., Top 50) based on the judging criteria. The panel may include external artists or industry experts for credibility.

Stage 3: Final Judging

  • A select panel of independent judges (named or unnamed) reviews the Top 10–20 entries.
  • Judges independently score each entry based on the judging criteria.
  • Winners are selected based on total combined score, with tie-breakers determined by the Head Judge’s discretion.

Selection and Notification

Judging is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Finalists may be contacted to confirm identity, process work, or clarify intent prior to final judging.

Winners will be notified via email within 5 business days of selection. If a winner cannot be contacted or fails to claim the prize within 14 days, an alternate winner may be selected.

Cash prizes will be paid by electronic transfer within 30 days of the announcement. For entrants under 18, payment may be made to a parent or legal guardian.

People’s Choice Award

People’s Choice will be awarded based on the highest number of verified public votes.

One vote per email address per day will be permitted. Voters must verify their email address to submit a vote.

If the People’s Choice winner overlaps with a judged category winner, the People’s Choice prize will go to the next highest voted submission that has not won a cash prize.

Intellectual Property

By submitting an entry to the Art Strikes Back competition, each entrant warrants that their submission is their original work and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. All entrants retain full ownership of the copyright in their submitted artwork. However, by entering the competition, entrants grant Aurora Lites Pty Ltd (and its associated entities) a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, modify, publish, adapt, communicate and display their artwork, in whole or in part, for marketing, promotional, merchandising, packaging and related purposes, in any media format, without further compensation, notification or permission. This licence applies to all submissions, not just winning entries. Aurora Lites may credit the artist where reasonably practicable.

Entrants acknowledge and consent to Aurora Lites Pty Ltd using, reproducing, adapting or publishing their work in accordance with the above licence, and to the extent permitted by law, waive any moral rights in connection with such use. Where reasonably practicable, Aurora Lites will attribute authorship of the artwork to the entrant.

This Campaign is governed by the laws of Australia and the State of Victoria.

Any attempt to tamper with the campaign or breach these rules will result in disqualification.
